See Sally Play

Dick and Jane are the two main characters and Sally is the little sister in a book series that taught my generation of children to read. The books were a mainstay of public education from 1930 through 1965.

My sister-in-law Barbara McFarlane purchased this nostalgic fabric line at least ten years ago and ended up passing it along to me. I had to wait several more years before this now hard-to-find vintage material spoke up and told me what it wanted to become.

I fell in love with the border fabric on this quilt because it perfectly matched little Sally's flowered dress. For the sake of history, I will note that fabric these days averages about $12.00 a yard. This yellow beauty, imported from Japan, cost $16.49 a yard, but I knew I had to use it.
