Big Willow trailhead is just off Wasatch Blvd. in Sandy's Hidden Valley Park next to a church. This is a strenuous hike that goes around and over a ridge, then through a large pine forest (where the trail is marked by red flags nailed to trees every so often). Easy to get lost. Exiting the pine forest, the trail essentially disappears in chest-high woody vegetation at the base of large rock faces visible from the valley.

The beauty of this hike, as with most along the Wasatch range, is the profusion of car and house-size granite rocks in multitudes of shapes.
