Cheer Up
Pieced by Kathy Cracroft Wilhelmsen (Draper, Utah – 2008), using the Turning Twenty pattern.
I got the 20 fat quarters for this quilt from a sale at Lizzie’s and spent an intense week in January piecing this.
We went to Hawaii in February 2005. One day while we were waiting to board a catamaran for a day of sailing, Shauni and I were having a serious discussion about our kids. The ship’s captain walked by, looked at us, and said, “Cheer up!”
I love this quilt. It cheered me up to make it and it cheers me up to look at it. Its bright colors and unusual combinations remind me to be bold, to embrace variety, and to celebrate the unexpected.
