Kathy and I visited Capitol Reef in June, 2014, staying at the Chuck Wagon motel in Torrey. On the first day took a drive from the visitor center down Highway 12. On hitting the dirt and gravel road about 10 miles distant, encountered one of the most silent and unpopulated landscapes in America. It was beautiful.
