Flamingo Fancy
Pieced by Kathy Cracroft Wilhelmsen (Draper, Utah – 2009).
A sampler quilt made of 13 blocks from the 2008-2009 First Saturday class at Quilt Etc. I set the blocks on the diagonal and added sashings, posts, and setting triangles of my own design.
The black, white, and pink colors called out “Flamingo” to me, and I was happy to find a whimsical flamingo print to use on the back. I also added, as a little surprise, a small paper-pieced flamingo (from the book A Quilter’s Ark by Margaret Rolfe).
