Basket Case

In 2011, I made a scrappy ldquo;spoolsrdquo; quilt, and in the process of doing the triangle corners for those blocks, I sewed one extra seam each time to create 80+ sets of four matching 1.5-inch half-square triangles. These small creations waited patiently for awhile, until finally they demanded to be put into a quilt. The result is this beauty, with 80 4.5-inch scrappy baskets.
The pieced top then needed to wait awhile longer for Melanie to recover from serious surgery before she could quilt it. And was it worth the wait? Oh, yes, a thousand times over!
